THE SWINE REALLY FLEW
Panic attacks everywhere! Swine flu is here. Reports suggest that this virus "used" to happen in pigs. There have been many reports of outbreaks of this deadly virus in human history before. But this time, it is back with a vengeance. There has been some horrible changes in DNA and genetic hulabaloo and now, the swine influenza virus is here to stay. What is more astonishing is that the virus can now never affect pigs. First we get AIDS from monkeys and now this from pigs!
But it isn't something to be worried about if you are really selfish and in the pink of health. Reports suggest that 70% of the swine flu cases recuperate without any medical assistance. Only those who have underlying chronic disorders, AIDS, diabetes asthama etc. need to be extra cautious. Nonetheless, if you belong to the first group, do take necessary precautions so that the people around you are not affected.
WHAT THIS MEANS TO US
It has completely ruined our lives. Yes, we do have a 2-day holiday and a 4-day extended weekend, all extra-curricular activities involving community gatherings have been banned. Which means all the non-academic (read every) piece of excitement in the insti has been postponed until futher notice. To add insult to injury, I am pretty much sure most of the profs have already thought of and coordinated among themselves when to reschedule lectures. These shall more or less be in obscene time slots. No, people, this small mini-vacation is a sign of bad things to come. The dean had already canceled Janmashtami holiday "since he had declared gudi padwa as a holiday", I shudder to think what will happen now :(
