India Shining

We had a guest lecture by an inventor who manufactured steam engines in the US. His company was shipping raw material to India, manufacturing the parts here, shipping the parts back to the US to assemble and put the "Made in the U.S.A." stamp. The manufacturing cost itself in the US is so high that it is profitable for that guy to ship so much stuff across infi miles! Also during the talk many times, he mentioned "It is you people(us) who must work towards using renewable sources of energy.

One wonders why this economic and social disparity exists even in the 21st century with the rise of such powerful tools. Well, for a fact, the US has a head-start of about 170 years of independence. But I was wondering, why are we still lacking behind in spite of so many advances in technology?

Well the answer lies in 2 words: population and mindsets. India, for once, has a population tending to infinity. Labor is cheap, people will do anything to earn a living, even if they are way underpaid. secondly the mindset. People will have time to protest against and demand for sacking the dean because of a childish game in IIT Roorkee rather than protesting against the commonwealth games ghotala. We are more than satisfied to watch Rakhi ka insaaf and wallow in our and other's self pity rather than use that time constructively. This needs to be changed. We must request Pakistan to take Rakhi Sawant too, like they took away Sania Mirza. All politicians must be made to serve at least 2 years in the army before entering politics. It is easy to take out morchas here, but our true national heroes, the jawans, have no place for such petty differences.

Long time since I've written a senti post, but, what the hell...
