Counselling blues, greens and yellows!
Bihari, the great GSHA of our time, recently mailed (read spammed) on gpo saying that JEE needed student counsellors to help with the councelling of JEE qualified candidates and offered Rs 100/- per shift. I saw this as a wonderful opportunity to sew my pockets which had a hole burnt in them since the TechniC team treat.
Of the many fearsome beasts that roam about the earth, perhaps the most gruesome is the pre-freshie. The pre-freshie is a confused fool, uncertain about his future/ignorant about options available to him, just qualified JEE, doesn't know what he wants to do in life.
Our Job involved clarifying the doubts that these terrifying creatures have! Outlined below are a few "jewels of the counselling" :
->Choice sheet upar se neeche bharni hai ya neeche se upar??
->Sifarish lagaani ho toh kya karu?
->How is aerospace engg. related to applied mechanics and biosciences?
->First day doubt: Do I choose elec engg over mech engg?
->Second day doubt: Do I choose civil engg over chem engg?
->Third day doubt: Do I choose mining engg in dhanbad over chem engg in BHU or new IITs?
->Fourth Day doubt: Do I choose Paper and pulp engg or Agriculture and Food engg?
We counsellors had our very own doubts:
What would the new IITs be like? Would they have labs good enough to rival their mentor IITs? Would foreign universities recognise these new born IITs? Would the corporate sector recognise them as IITs or just some other over-hyped poltu mechanisms?
